Allison was baptized at Two Cities Church on October 16, 2016.
At Two Cities Church there are students who serve every week in our children’s ministry environments. Rachel is one of those students. She is a high schooler who attends Buchanan High School and publicly declared that Jesus is her Lord and Savior on November 8, 2015 at a Night of Worship.
It was December 6, 2014 and I received a text from Shelby Dart, who goes to Two Cities Church. She said,
“Hey Micah! Big things happening and we are bringing it right to you tmrw. I think I’ve told you about my surrogate mom’s ailing health….well she doesnt have much time and she’s decided she wants to get baptized! She’s a new faith follower. She’s just outta the hospital and going back for surgery. So 1) pray for her, but 2) and way more groovy, try to pull away after service and connect with her. Yayyayyay! See you tmrw!!!!!”
The next day I met JoAnne Bojorques and one of her daughters. We made arrangements to get together and talk about Jesus, faith, life, afterlife and baptism. That following Friday she was at my home and we had a long… Really great chat. That’s when I got to know JoAnne And I learned how amazing JoAnne truly was.
Just a few short days later we had an event at my home and we baptized JoAnne in my backyard.
JoAnne had surgery about a week ago and it’s been a roller coaster ever since. A couple of days ago I was able to pray with her in the hospital and again today with her and some of her family.
JoAnne entered into eternity with peace, surrounded by loved one and with her daughters holding her hands today at 5:30pm.
During our conversations she said to me,
“I only wish I hadn’t waited so long to follow Jesus.”
I told her that life is but a mist in the wind. But eternity is forever. No matter how late she waited… Forever, and her savior, eagerly await her.
Today as I left her bedside, I told her,
“I’ll see you in a minute. I don’t know if it’ll be here or there, but it’s just a minute.”
Please pray for JoAnne’s family and friends as they mourn her temporary loss, but rejoice with them as well.
if you have unfinished business, particularly as it relays to relationships, don’t delay in taking care of those things. You never know when your time or theirs will come.
Today I found peace and comfort in this verse:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3 NIV)
I hope you find peace in that truth as well.
